  4. Purpose of Establishment

The Dongjak-gu was divided in to a district on April 1st, 1980 by Article 9630 (Proclamation of September 26th, 1979) of the Presidential Decree to establish Noryangjin-song, Sangdo 1-dong, Sando-dong, Bon-dong, Heukseok-dong, Daebang-dong, Sindaebang-dong, and part of Sadang-dong. On May 1st, 1988 by the Article 4004 (Proclamation of April 6th, 1988) under the law, it has elevated its status as autonomous district. The Dongjak-gu has open administration, culture-facing administration, and sharing welfare administration to grow as the Dongjak, the Prestigious city oriented by good peoplewith 1,200 public officials working in the local government offices. Legal basis of the local government

The local government handles work which is lawfully in the jurisdiction of the autonomous work and work of local government. The example work of local government under clause 1 regulation are as follows. However, if there are other regulations of the law, it will not be so.
